Help us continue to enrich people's lives through dance
Since October 2017 I have had the privilege to work as an artist on Déda & Artcore’s Creative Living Project.
The Creative Living project aims to enhance the talent, experience and enthusiasm of over 55s in the creative arts by delivering creative movement, dance and visual arts workshops by Déda and Artcore in various community venues in Derby. The project commenced delivery in October 2017 and has since seen both dance and visual art sessions take place at two venues. These are;
Each workshop works with the imagination, creativity and memory of the participants and involves creative conversations and simple art making methods in order to reduce social isolation.
The project addresses Derby’s priority of supporting older people to live enriched lives.
As the Dance Artist working on the project it has been my job to create and facilitate dance and creative movement sessions that will engage participants from different backgrounds. During these sessions I have kept the participants at the forefront of each session and used their ideas and interests to deliver sessions that were appropriate and meaningful to them. At the creative movement sessions at Alvaston and Boulton Welfare Club we have been practicing everything from hand jiving to moving with scarves, umbrellas and balloons.

Overall the project has been a fabulous, creative and enjoyable project so far. Participants from both groups have established relationships, engaged with dance and creative movement, gained confidence and learnt some new dance moves along the way- in which I am super proud to be apart of!
