My name is Leah Wright, I am a Year 11 student and I am currently doing my work experience placement at Déda. Ever since I was 3 I was dancing, doing ballet and tap and as I got older I joined varies other classes. I am used to performing in front of people and following routines. I think to join an organisation which has my interests and seeing the different types of jobs inside of it is the best place for me.
As one of my first tasks I started my project with the dance development team with Year 2s. My thoughts were that they were so creative for their age looking at the art and explaining what they saw in the form of writing and pictures.
Before I came to Déda, I thought it was just a dance school but coming here and exploring wider I found out it also is a place of art and the organisation is also a fundraiser that helps the community. Being in this I learnt that it was the 250th year of circus and learnt what the circus looked like back then and compared it to how it looks now.
I enjoyed working through my bronze arts awards and showing my strengths and, I also loved being in the dance classes. I joined in with Hip Hop Youth and Jump and also joined in with Festé choreography with uni and college students. In Jump I prepared the warm up for the class, for my skills share and got great feedback from it. I also enjoyed using the website canva to create leaflets and posters for upcoming classes.
Throughout my time at Déda I got the opportunity to discover new activities and art forms that will help me when I finish school to know what I want to do in the future.
