A performance company fusing dance, acrobatics and aerial skills.
Hi I’m Jodie, a sixth form student at Chellaston Academy. I love dancing and performing, as well as teaching dance, which is what drew me to Déda, Derby.
My work experience here so far has taught me all about the types of classes here, i.e Youth Dance Circus and Circus Company, Acro classes etc.
I have also learnt about the fundraising part of Déda, since Déda is a charity so doesn’t make any profit - all the money they receive goes back out. Also so far this week I’ve been completing my Bronze Arts Award, which includes exploring and writing about an Arts inspiration of mine.
It also includes learning a new skill, so I learnt how to use the silks, which I found quite a challenge but still enjoyed it and thought it was fun.
I am currently learning about marketing and will explore different forms of social media platforms and how they’re used to promote classes and events. I’m excited to lead a warm up later on today for the company ‘Jump’ which takes place at Déda and also goes towards my Bronze Arts Award.
Additionally, I’m going to visit Beckett Primary School tomorrow which sounds really exciting since I’ll get to meet and engage with a lot of new children. I will also work at the front of house, which will be really interesting and a great experience since I haven’t done anything like that before.
