Autumn Pledge winner Georgie shares her experience of classes at Déda, and how she feels about winning a term's worth of classes at Déda:

"Hi, I’m Georgie (pictured, left) and I’ve been attending Ballroom and Latin dance classes at Déda for just over a year.

Having always danced as a child and into my late teens I was sad to have to stop during my A-Levels and progressing to uni. I simply didn’t have time for it anymore and my hobby unfortunately fizzled out.

Determined to get back into dancing and spurred by my huge love of Strictly, I looked at dance classes and Déda’s offer seemed like the perfect one. I spent a term in Beginners then moved up to Improvers with my friend and we absolutely love it!

The fantastic thing about Déda is that it caters to people of all ages and abilities and offers a great variety of classes.

I wondered if I had enough experience to go and learn Ballroom or if I was the right age but none of that matters as everyone is welcome.

The Ballroom and Latin class is great – it’s the highlight of our week. The best thing about it is undoubtedly the wonderful teachers! They’re friendly and welcoming and their enthusiasm for what they do is very infectious. They add lots of humour to the classes and spend their time ensuring each couple is progressing well and giving tips and advice to help us. They truly make the classes what they are which is an absolute joy to attend. We all love them!

Another massive benefit is the different styles of dance we do. We cover Rhumba, Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, Tango and Jive and then add what we learn into sequences.

Each term there’s the chance to freestyle to a variety of music in both the classes or at the Déda social dance clubs and that’s so beneficial for us as well as being a lot of fun!

The Pledge is a great way of keeping motivated. My partner and I are regular attenders anyway (I think we’ve only missed two classes since we started!) and so the Pledge was a great little extra for us alongside our classes. It feels as though winning it has been a great reward for my loyalty.

Getting complimentary classes for an entire term is going to be great!"

Our Social Dancing programme includes Ballroom and Latin, Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing and Rock 'n' Roll with a twist of Swing. New Beginners are welcome - no partner required in many classes.

Try something new this week!
