Eleanor has loved getting a taste of the Fifties in our Rock n Roll with a twist of Swing classes on a Wednesday night!

Spring Pledge winner Eleanor shares her experience of classes at Déda

"As a child I went to regular ballet lessons up to the age of 7, and then had a huge gap until at university I decided to have a go at first Ballroom, and then Lindy Hop.

When I moved to Derby after university, I was looking for new classes to attend and found out about Déda. The first classes I took were Rock ‘n’ Roll with Heather Clements, where I had great fun learning new moves, culminating in an amazing charity dance night raising money for Children in Need.

I then decided I fancied a change of direction and started going to the Burlesque classes. Both Sol and Faye have been great teachers for that, and I’m sure the new teacher this term will be just as awesome. I’ve loved having an excuse to strut around and have a laugh.

I’ve also tried out the Ballroom and Latin classes, and a bit of West Coast Swing. My main problem is that there are so many exciting possibilities that I can’t go to them all!

I love that Déda is open to everyone, you don’t need previous experience to go to the classes (particularly the beginners ones), and when you have enough confidence and skill the teachers encourage you to move up to the intermediate level.

The Pledge is a great way of motivating people to attend regularly. I live really close by, but still there are some nights when I have to persuade myself that going to a class is a good idea, and it always is, I always get a mood lift from the dancing and socialising with other class members.

This term I’m looking forward to returning to Rock ‘n’ Roll and fully intend to make use of all the complimentary classes!

Thanks Déda!"
