Hello, my name is Naomi Midgelow, I am 15 and I am doing work experience here at Déda .
I have been coming to various Déda classes since I was little and am now in InCompany, a contemporary youth class that performs at a county and regional level and Bounceback which is a company that performs nationally and hopefully internationally soon. Also with Bounceback, we won New Dimensions which led to an invitation to Plymouth for four days for U.Dance15 which also includes workshops which I am particularly excited for. We will be perfoming as part of the celebration, along with other companies and groups that were selected and invited to Plymouth across regional platform events. I will be completing the rest of my work experience there as it cuts right through my work experience week after only two days at Déda. This will include extra responsibilities such as looking after costumes and taking registers each day.
My experience with Déda has always been exceptional and I love the atmosphere when in classes and performances. Doing work experience here has shown me that I also love the atmosphere here when it is a work place rather than a place to have fun and learn. This morning, I was shown the ropes of Marketing and what they do here - it was not at all what I expected! It was such a fun experience it has made me think about a career in marketing in the creative sector. We thought about how the website could be improved but also what goes into marketing, which, turns out is almost everything! This proved to be a creative playground that gave me new ideas and thoughts about how a place like Déda is run.
