This youth dance platform for Derby and Derbyshire celebrates young people’s talent in the county and provides an exclusive opportunity to showcase their work. Following on from this year’s Secondary Dance Platform, which took place at Déda earlier this month, the following Derby and Derbyshire based groups are celebrating their success and preparing to perform at Interface 17:

- Déda Youth Performance Companies: Jump, InCompany, Bounceback and Derbyshire Youth Dance  Company
- Inspiration School of Dance

Interface 17 will include a live selection where the best groups will be selected to go on to perform at the wider national event, U.Dance, held from Thursday 13 - Sunday 16 July in Birmingham.

U.Dance 2017 will bring together young dancers from across the country, showcasing their talent, and enabling hundreds of young people  to participate in classes, workshops and careers sessions during a three and half day residential.

This year a new opportunity has also been introduced to U. Dance: elEMents Choreo Lab, a regional event exclusive to the East Midlands. One group from each county platform will be invited to this innovative event whereupon selected youth dance companies will work alongside a prestigious choreographer at iC4C in Nottingham. This exclusive day of exploration will include workshops focused on choreographic skills, ideas and practices.

To support the Derbyshire youth dance groups selected to perform at Interface 17, and celebrate youth dance and choreographic talent in the region, audiences can attend the regional platform at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield on Monday 6 March at 7.00pm. Tickets are priced at £9 (£7 concession) and can be booked via the Box Office on 01246 345 222 – booking fees apply.

Interface 17 is a Stage 2 U.Dance Platform, framed within a national programme ran by One Dance UK, which enables young people in England to take part in an annual dance performance. The regional platform event is presented in partnership with Derbyshire School Sports’ Association.  U.Dance in the East Midlands is supported by Dance4.
