On Friday 21 February internationally-acclaimed dance-theatre company T42 will launch its first ever UK tour at Déda, following a curtain-raising performance created by local dance artists.
T42 from Switzerland will present Tour D’Horizon, a fascinating story of one man living in isolation for decades on the coast of Brittany and the strange fate which befalls him. Two fishermen, a woman and a goldfish move in the grey areas between thought, memory, imagination and reality. Contemporary dance meets physical theatre in a beautiful, warm and humorous journey through loneliness, boredom, illusion and hope.
In the week leading up to the performance, fifteen members of Derbyshire Dance Artists Network will attend a three-day professional development residency to master T42’s unique choreographic style. They will then create a short piece which will be presented before Tour D’Horizon on Friday 21 February.
T42 Dance has a national reputation in Switzerland for its use of beautiful yet unconventional choreography, coupled with stunning projection. It was founded in 2006 by choreographers Misato Inoue and Felix Dumeril in Bern, Switzerland.
Felix was director of the Bern Ballet from 1999-2004. Since 2005 he has worked internationally as guest choreographer for companies in Switzerland, Holland, Russia, Czech Republic, Japan, Germany and Austria (and also as a guest dancer and actor in various productions and films). He also teaches workshops worldwide. Misato has worked extensively as a freelance dancer and choreographer for projects in Switzerland and other countries.
T42 perform Tour D’Horizon with a curtain raiser from local dance artists at Déda on Friday 21 February at 8pm. Tickets are £10 (£8 concession) and can be booked online at www.deda.uk.com or by calling the Box Office on 01332 370911.

About Arts Council England
The Arts Council champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people’s lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. Great art and culture inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better. Between 2011 and 2015, we will invest £1.4 billion of public money from government and an estimated £1 billion from the National Lottery to help create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country. www.artscouncil.org.uk
