Continuing the success of our
20 Days for 20 Years with our new
Summer Residency Programme

Summer Residency Programme

In 2018 Déda celebrated 20 years in our wonderful building on Chapel Street, Derby. To mark the anniversary, we opened up our building over the summer to allow regional, national and international artists the opportunity to take over the spaces, rehearse, test new ideas and explore creative practices with a focus on those interested in dance, circus and outdoor performance.

To continue the legacy of our 20th birthday celebrations we have added to our artist support programme the Summer Residency. Which will see us open up our building to artists across summer - August and September 2019 – to explore, test and develop new creative ideas.

Below you will find a short application form for use of the space, which includes details of spaces available, and the dates and time that these spaces can be used. Déda is a unique venue offering sprung floors, circus rigging and a fully equipped theatre, which can support a variety of artistic disciplines.

We are interested in supporting the following:

  1. Artists/Companies/Producers who are based internationally or in the UK.
  2. Artists/Companies/Producers who are exploring dance, circus or outdoor performance practices and work for all ages.
  3. Small to midscale works that are still ideas or early developments.
  4. Small to midscale works that are in final creation or development stages or are preparing for touring.
  5. The research and development of new projects/productions/shows that may not develop into finished productions and are simply testing ideas and exploring new boundaries
  6. Work that is looking at the crossing over of dance and contemporary circus practices.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer any financial support towards the residencies. We envisage that we will select between 8 - 12 artists/companies/producers who will be allocated a minimum of 5 days space each over the specified period.

To apply, please fill out an application form and return to Déda’s Creative Producer Phil Hargreaves by Monday 6th May 2019, 12.00pm: p.hargreaves@deda.uk.com

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact Phil directly.
