The Big Dance is an annual national programme, designed to encourage people to take part in dance activity as a participant, performer or spectator. Déda is part of the Big Dance Hub Partnership, East Midlands.
The Big Dance Pledge is designed to be an accessible participation opportunity for all individuals and groups including schools, private dance schools, youth clubs, sports clubs and community groups.
The Pledge raises the profile of dance throughout the region and in 2014 we hope to have a locally-based mass participation event in partnership with Derby City School Sports Partnership.
The Big Dance Week will take place from Saturday 5 - Sunday 13 July 2014. This will be a national celebration of all things dance and be linked with an exciting local and regional programme.
Big Dance in 2012 was a great success with 27,787 engaging and 112,999 audiences experiencing the programme in the East Midlands region. Following on from the success of Big Dance in 2012, activity is being planned for future years, to build on that achievement.
The Big Dance Hub Partnership will create a spectacular flagship programme of dance-led commissions exclusive to the East Midlands; engaging artists, public and places in extraordinary ways and leaving a lasting legacy.
Déda and other Big Dance Regional Hub Partners would like to work closely within their locality and thematic areas to support the programme strands, fundraise and work alongside local partners including the private dance sector, venues, sport, physical activity, and health sector to develop activity and reach new audiences.
