Foundation for Community Dance has announced the launch of the National College for Community Dance, a new initiative that aims to inspire, nurture and sustain professional identity with career-long continuing professional development in community dance
Two bursaries are being offered by Déda for Freelance Dance Artists practising in Derby City and Derbyshire. The bursaries are to support Dance Artists to attend the first National College for Community Dance Summer School. The Summer School will be held in August 2009 at the Performance Arts Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at De Montfort University, Leicester.
Dance Development Bursary– Emerging Dance Artist

This bursary is aimed at Dance Artists who are just embarking on an independent career in community dance. The bursary will go towards fees for the Induction to professional practice in community dance course (4 – 6th August). The course gives Dance Artists support to identify professional values and conduct and to develop teaching skills and artistry in creating dance with people. The course facilitator is leading community dance practitioner Diane Amans, founder of Freedom in Dance.
Dance Development Bursary – Experienced Dance Artist

This bursary is aimed at Dance Artists wishing to develop the knowledge, skill and competencies to work successfully in health and wellbeing, disability or age inclusive contexts. The bursary will go towards fees for either of the following courses: Dance and age inclusive practice (4th – 5th August 2009), Dance and Disability (5th – 6th August 2009) or Dance, health and well being (7th – 8th August).
