8.45pm

The Insects will lead you back into the Market Place for a performance of Heliosphere. Using music, lighting and the location, Heliosphere creates the illusion of flying. The impossible becomes possible.

Spiralling and spinning and seemingly weightless, an acrobat suspended beneath a helium balloon will explore the uncharted spaces of Derby Market Place, to a new soundtrack for Derby, especially created by contemporary composer Scanner.

Following Heliosphere the festivities culminate in a spectacular and mesmerising display of pyrotechnics by internationally-renowned company Walk The Plank, to mark the official launch of QUAD.

A broadcast from birdsongradio.com will complete the atmosphere.
