Friday
Festé09 will take to the streets, with fantastic large-scale outdoor performances from around the world.
From 7:15pm - Festé begins with Close Act Characters
Beginning in Westfield Derby, a group of silver explorers will lead audiences into the Cathedral Quarter for the rest of the weekend's activities.
8:00pm - 9:30pm - Herbert's Dream Compagnie des Quidams, Cathedral Green
Four tall, mysterious figures emerge in the Cathedral Quarter, charming us into following them to Cathedral Green where they transform into 4 metre high unearthly beings. To bewitching music, they perform a magical ritual that releases their star into the night sky. At the finale of Herbert’s Dream, The World Famous will create a dazzling shower of light marking the beginning of another Festé weekend! Follow Close-Act Characters as they reappear to lead you to the Festé Street Party on the Cathedral Quarter’s Market Place.
9:00pm - 11:00pm - Ceilidh and Festé Street Party, Market Place
Trees festooned with lights, tables and chairs around a central dance floor, set the scene for a Festé Street Party! With international food stalls and the surrounding cafes and bars staying open until late, the Derbyshire Volunteers Céilidh Band will get you dancing into the night.
Evening - Joseph Wright's Moons
Moving projection of the work of Joseph Wright, Derby's greatest ever artist. Projections will be seen on the outside of the Derby Museum and Art Gallery.
