Derby Festé meets Edinburgh Festival
The City of Derby was able to call on the services of its home-town stars to focus attention on Derby Festé during this year’s Edinburgh Festival.
One of the most eye-catching outdoor city centre festivals of its kind in Britain, Derby Festé, is this year scheduled to take place in Derby over the weekend of September 24/26.
Maison Foo consists of three Derby girls - Bethany Sheldon, Kathryn Lowe and fellow accomplice Jennifer Sumner - who are currently earning rave reviews for their show “Memoirs of a Biscuit Tin” in The Pleasance Theatre at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.
Maison Foo’s performance at Edinburgh has already been noticed by The Guardian, amongst others. The national newspaper has even featured them in an on-line video.
Visitors to Derby Festé between September 24 and 26 can now expect to see the Alien Tourists turning up as a couple of the participants in a guided tour of the city. And anything could then happen (and probably will!) as Maison Foo unveil their latest performance, “Seaside Shenanigans”, when they promise to bring the seaside to the most centrally located city in Britain.
John Forkin Director of Marketing Derby comments:
“It is absolutely fantastic that our city’s talent has taken Edinburgh Festival by storm, enjoying sell out performances. I am delighted in their success and that they have brought with them attention to Derby Festé which this year is expected to attract thousands.”
