A newly commissioned performance for Under 5s, Underneath the Floorboards is the latest show from North-East based Dance Company balletLORENT. This interactive show is the perfect introduction to contemporary dance for young audiences.

Award-winning choreographer Liv Lorent has created a show that puts children at the heart of the performance. Brimming with original songs, colourful costumes and beautiful movement that allows for interaction between dancers and audience, Underneath the Floorboards is a captivating show.

Set during moving day, John discovers a strange world beneath his bedroom floor whilst packing away his toys. Alarmed when he can’t find his way back, he’s worried he will be left behind until a host of weird and wonderful creatures begin to appear from the shadows. Guffy, Fawn and Mimic take John on a magical journey home with help from the audience.

The show is performed in Déda’s intimate theatre space, kitted out with cushions and bean bags allowing the children to join in with the performers and explore the beautiful set.
