![]() |
Angela Woodhouse and Jerwood prize winner artist Caroline Broadhead will present their acclaimed performance installation Sighted at QUAD in Derby in February.
Sighted offers a rare opportunity to experience this unique collaboration between Angela Woodhouse, a dance artist concerned with articulating highly charged atmospheres, and Caroline Broadhead, a trained jeweller who developed her practice to work on a larger scale with textiles and light.
Presented in QUAD Gallery in partnership with Déda, Sighted comprises two works performed simultaneously and split between two spaces, one dark and one light.
Twelve audience members at a time will be invited into each space to experience the performance. Sighted offers a rare opportunity to experience this unique collaboration, performed by dancers Stine Nilsen, co-artistic director of Candoco Dance Company, and Martina Conti, from Firenza Guidi.
Stephen Munn, Déda Director, said:
“I’ve always felt there was a real connection between dance and the visual arts. Since arriving in Derby I’ve always wanted to explore programming dance work into one of the city’s premier visual arts spaces. Having worked with Angela before, I know her work will be stunning in QUAD Gallery.”
Sighted was commissioned by The Royal Opera House for Deloitte Ignite 2009 and produced by The Place Theatre, London; it has been described as “Breathtaking” by Time Out Magazine and “An unusual and thoroughly refreshing work of quiet seduction” by Donald Hutera, from Dance Europe
Sighted performances will take place in QUAD on Friday 17th February and Saturday 18th February at 3:30pm, 4:30pm and 6:45pm on each day.
