![]() |
On Friday 29 June from 9pm, Déda, QUAD and Derby LIVE will be hosting a huge outdoor Brazilia-themed party on Derby Market Place as part of the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations.
The party will kick off as the Follow the Light procession arrives in the Market Place after its journey from Darley Park. Ten piece Salsa band Mambo con Rumbo will play as host Lee Hunter from Absolute Salsa will lead the audience through basic Salsa steps. There will also be some very special guest performances from the beautiful Samba dancers of Element Dance, community group Steps for the Future and Bokwa and Kizomba teachers.
Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Artizani’s giant illuminated lobster, Maison Foo’s lampshade-wearing aliens and Samba stilt walkers who will all be adding to the fun on the Market Place.
The Brazilia Party kicks off on Derby Market Place from approximately 9pm – 12am on Friday 29 June. The event is free and everyone is welcome.

About Arts Council England
The Arts Council champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people’s lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. Great art and culture inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better. Between 2011 and 2015, we will invest £1.4 billion of public money from government and an estimated £1 billion from the National Lottery to help create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country. www.artscouncil.org.uk
