Choreography and performance skills

Develop choreography and performance skills in these fun classes for ages 9-11 yrs (school years 5 & 6). A great progression route from Creative Dance 2, or fine for those new to dance too.

Taster session: If you are new to this class then you can try before you buy! Simply call our Box Office on 01332 370911 to book your first session with no commitment to enrol. Tasters can only take place on the first or last date of term - our Box Office will advise on the next best date to attend.

This class is only bookable on a termly or half-termly basis. To enrol, please contact our Box Office on 01332 370911 or via email at [email protected]. For further information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions below.

Tutor: Katherine Simpson (link to tutor page)

If you would like more information about any of our classes please contact the Box Office. All under 18s must complete an enrolment form.

We want you to enjoy your classes safely. If you have an injury or health issue that may affect your participation please let us know.

  • 1. When can I join?

We offer taster sessions, for non-audition companies, at the start or end of the term (our term dates are on our website at www.deda.uk.com/classes). This allows you to try a class, before payment, to see if it suits you. There is no commitment to enrol once you have attended a taster unless you wish to do so. Pre-booking is required so please call our Box Office on 01332 370911 to book your taster session.

Once you have decided to join, you can do so at any time of the year but, as payments are half-termly, it ideally needs to be at the start of a new half term. If our classes are working toward a performance opportunity, we may ask you to wait until the following term. However, our Box Office will advise you of this when booking so you do not need to worry if this is not the case.

  • 2. Will I need to perform?

Our Creative Dance courses include sharing opportunities throughout the year. If you are concerned about performing, please speak with our Box Office or the class tutor so we can adapt to your child’s needs accordingly.

  • 3. What time is the Box Office open?

During term time our Box Office is open:

    • 9am – 9pm Monday to Thursday
    • 9am – 5pm Friday and Saturday

Out of term time the Box Office is open 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday.

On performance nights we will be open until 30 minutes after the performances has started.

If you call us and we do not answer, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

  • 4. How do I register my child for classes?

We run two types of classes, drop-in and pay termly.

The exception to this is Déda’s Youth Performance Companies Bounceback and Youth Dance and Circus Company (1 & 2), both of which entry is by an audition process. Please speak to a member of the Box Office team who will advise you on when the relevant auditions are and how to apply.

Déda requires an enrolment form to be completed for each child that attends a class. Forms can be picked up from the Box Office and returned on completion. If there are any changes in details, please inform us as soon as possible.

  • 5. Is there car parking at Déda?

Chapel Street Car park is located directly opposite Déda. This 500-space multi-storey is reasonably priced, with evening parking for just £1.40 (parking charges apply to disabled badge holders)

Please note that there are parking restrictions on the street outside Déda and cars parked on the street may be towed.

  • 6. Are classes suitable for people with additional needs?

Yes - we want everyone to enjoy dance and all are welcome in our classes. We have a huge range of classes for children from 18 months upwards and people of all abilities. Déda is an accessible building and a copy of our Access Statement is available online giving more details about the building. Please contact Box Office or speak to the class tutor if you have any queries.

  • 7. What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your class you may not be admitted as you would miss the warm up. If you arrive early, you can visit our CUBE café|bar for delicious food and drink, free Wi-fi and gallery spaces for you to browse. Please note our CUBE café|bar is not open on Mondays.
