Déda Ambassador’s Engagement Event
Become a Déda Ambassador.
Come to our free ambassador’s event and meet our friendly Déda Team. Informal and relaxed, learn more about our organisation, our ambitions for the future and why we need you.
As Derby’s centre for dance, movement and creativity, it’s vital that we make meaningful connections with our local communities. Déda’s Director, Steve Slater, will deliver a presentation about how the role of an ambassador will help us develop and shape our creative projects. It’s key that we are ambitious and accessible to a wide range of people from Derby and Derbyshire and our ambassadors will play an important role with this.
After a presentation there will be a short questions and answers about how to get involved further. Then you can decide if you want to sign-up and become one of our new and exciting Déda Ambassadors!
We need your help to get more people to experience and be inspired by the arts, culture, and creativity.
The event also includes a short talk from Donna Briscoe-Greene of The Maypole Café Bar and Theatre.

What it means to be Déda
Who can be an ambassador?
This will be open to young people (11+) and adults.
Is this a paid or voluntary role?
The role is voluntary, but Ambassadors will be offered tickets to see cultural events in the local area. We will liaise with you regularly through digital engagement and share opportunities within the area. You will be invited to in-person events to network to discuss arts and culture.
What does an ambassador do?
You will offer us your insights about shows, classes, events to help us to find out what really matters to you and your community. We will look to you to provide us with what kinds of marketing platforms, language, tone of voice work best for the local area. You will also help to promote Déda through word of mouth and share our social media and print to your networks.
Will I gain any skills and experience from this role?
Our ambassadors will get first-hand arts and cultural experience. You will develop networks in the sector and be able to find out about what’s going on in your area. You will also gain volunteer experience and get to know about careers in the cultural sector.
