Learn ballet and develop ballet technique through our fun and creative ballet classes for children aged 8-11 years.
Buy two 'pay termly' Déda Academy Saturday classes (Minis, Kids and Juniors) in the same order to receive £10 off.
Ballet Juniors is a syllabus-free ballet class perfect for children who are new to dance or who have previously attended the Ballet Kids class.
Please be aware that this class is 45 minutes long.
Ballet is great for improving co-ordination, building strength and inspiring creativity. As well as learning the basics of ballet technique, children are encouraged to create their own ballet dances as individuals and as part of a group.
What to bring: Our class programme does not require you to purchase specific dancewear. We ask children to wear something they can safely move about in and recommend leggings and a top or a leotard and tights if the child prefers. Children are welcome to dance barefoot or wear ballet shoes.
Suitable for ages 8 to 11 (Key Stage 2).
Is there car parking at Déda?
Chapel Street Car park is located directly opposite Déda. This 500-space multi-storey is reasonably priced, with evening parking for just £1.40 (parking charges apply to disabled badge holders)
Please note that there are parking restrictions on the street outside Déda and cars parked on the street may be towed.
How do I register my child for classes?
We run two types of classes, drop-in and pay termly.
The exception to this is Déda’s Youth Performance Companies Bounceback and Youth Dance and Circus Company (1 & 2), both of which entry is by an audition process. Please speak to a member of the Box Office team who will advise you on when the relevant auditions are and how to apply.
Déda requires an enrolment form to be completed for each child that attends a class. Forms can be picked up from the Box Office and returned on completion. If there are any changes in details, please inform us as soon as possible.
What shall I wear?
None of our classes require you to purchase any specialist clothing - the main thing is to be comfortable and wear clothing which you can move in. Commercial dance is high energy so does require trainers to be worn whilst Yoga and Pilates classes require bare feet. Contemporary is done in bare feet, whilst Ballet classes you can go with just socks or wear ballet shoes.
Please contact the Box Office for further information on individual class guidelines.
Do you have changing facilities?
Yes. Upstairs we have full changing facilities with lockers and showers. Lockers require a token which can be purchased at front of house for 75p.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your class you may not be admitted as you would miss the warm up. If you arrive early, you can visit our CUBE café|bar for delicious food and drink, free Wi-fi and gallery spaces for you to browse. Please note our café|bar is not open on Mondays.
