Learn Rumba and Cha Cha Cha.

This class is for people who want to learn Ballroom and Latin dancing or improve their existing steps. We teach you the basic dance steps so that you have the confidence and skill to get up and dance at any social event.

At Level 1, we introduce you to Rumba, Waltz, Quickstep and Foxtrot in blocks of 3 weeks.

For each style:

Week 1 will assume that you have never danced before and introduce you to the dance from the very beginning.

Week 2 will go over the basics again and add some more simple steps.

Week 3 will ensure you have a good basic style and add some fancy steps.

Tickets can be purchased in pairs as a Leader and a Follower. Also available as Solo tickets, if there is no one to partner with a refund can be issued.

This class is not for people who want to enter competitions or people with a lot of experience.

    • 1. Which class is right for me?

We have a range of classes at Déda in a variety of styles for different abilities. Our friendly Box Office team can help recommend the right class for you, call in or call us for a chat.

Our classes are organized into the following levels:

Level 1: Suitable for beginners, those returning to dance or exercise & people looking to master the fundamentals of a style.

    • 2. What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your class you may not be admitted as you would miss the warm up. If you arrive early, you can visit our CUBE café|bar for delicious food and drink, free Wi-fi and gallery spaces for you to browse. Please note our café|bar is not open on Mondays.

    • 3. Are classes run as courses or drop in sessions?

Both. Most of our Academy classes are bookable in a half-termly block (tasters available on request), with the exception of Play Dance Move which is a drop-in class for ages 18 months to 4 years. Our Adult classes are largely drop in classes, with the exception of Aerial, which is booked as a course. See our classes page for more information www.deda.uk.com/classes. Advanced booking is strongly recommended for popular classes, as they often sell out quickly.

    • 4. What shall I wear?

None of our classes require you to purchase any specialist clothing - the main thing is to be comfortable and wear clothing which you can move in.  Commercial dance is high energy so does require trainers to be worn whilst Yoga and Pilates classes require bare feet. Contemporary is done in bare feet, whilst Ballet classes you can go with just socks or wear ballet shoes.

Please contact the Box Office for further information on individual class guidelines.

    • 5. Do I need to bring any specialist equipment?

No. We provide mats and blocks for Yoga and Pilates classes, but if you would prefer to bring your own please do! You may like to bring a prop along to a class such as Belly Dance – your tutors will advise you.

    • 6. Do you have changing facilities?

Yes. Upstairs we have full changing facilities with lockers and showers. Lockers require a token which can be purchased at front of house for 75p.

    • 7. Are classes suitable for people with additional needs?

Yes - we want everyone to enjoy dance and all are welcome in our classes. We have a huge range of classes for children from 18 months upwards and people of all abilities. Déda is an accessible building and a copy of our Access Statement is available online giving more details about the building. Please contact Box Office or speak to the class tutor if you have any queries.
