Powerfully Graceful: Celebrating Women's History Month at Déda

March is a month of celebration for women. At Déda, we're proud to present a special program of events and activities in commemoration of Women's History Month. With the theme of #powerfullygraceful, our aim is to appreciate and celebrate the incredible women around us and across the globe. Join us for a series of empowering activities that highlight the strength and grace of womanhood.

Program Highlights:

1. 40/40 - Tuesday, 5 March, 2024: Experience the inspiring performance of "40/40," where Katherina Radeva celebrates 40 years as a woman, migrant, and artist.

2. She Swims - Thursday, 7 March, 2024: Dive into the thought-provoking performance of "She Swims," a mesmerizing exploration of women's experiences and resilience. Enjoy the sea-er of SHE SWIMS; a brand new feminist film launching and workshop as well on International Women’s Day this March

3. Mamma Mia Sing Along - Friday, 8 March, 2024: Join us for a fun-filled evening of singing along to the timeless classics of ABBA in "Mamma Mia Sing Along." The perfect gift for mother’s day.

4. International Women's Day: Open Mic Night - Friday, 8 March, 2024: Programmed by MC Rebecca Muir of BexStar Entertainment Productions.See powerful poetry, spoken word, music, dance, and comedy, plus songs of protest and affirmation from the Rebel Women's Choir. Celebrate International Women's Day with an empowering Open Mic Night, where women are invited to share their stories, poetry, and music.

5. Undercurrents - Saturday, 9 March, 2024: Immerse yourself in the captivating performance of "Undercurrents," an exploration of the depth and complexity of women's experiences. A triple bill of bold and exciting contemporary dance with Half Sewn, It Sort of Just Happens One Day… and Unfurled.

6. Workshop with Sarah Poekert, Artistic Director of Thrive Dance - Saturday, 9 March, 2024 An improvisation and creative based class which includes a deep exploration of texture and landscape, contact and partnering tasks, uncovering of movement layers using sensory images and text. This is then broken up by playful and curious grooves to a pop song - just so we don’t take ourselves too seriously. 

7. All About The Distance - Going The Distance - Saturday, 16 March, 2024: Don't miss "All About The Distance," a compelling performance that delves into the challenges and triumphs journeys. Discover Going The Distance, an innovative Grime Dance Theatre production by Katy Sterran, MadEP, J Man Wv & Brightstar Boxing Academy. Featuring local Grime Artists and Boxing presentations, culminating in a powerful finale.
