IN/BETWEEN by Lina Avramidou
Visual Arts
Lina Avramidou is a London based artist working primarily in Printmaking and Book Arts. She experiments with image and structure to create limited edition prints and sculptural bookworks. Utilising traditional printmaking techniques, often combined with more experimental and hybrid processes, the dialogue between the idea and the process becomes intrinsic to the conceptual development of the work.
Avramidou’s work explores notions of memory, place and time and draws inspiration from the urban and natural landscape and more specifically from processes of decay, abandonment, erosion and the wear of time. Through mark-making, Avramidou attempts to create abstracted narratives of the embedded history and archaeology of surfaces and structures, looking at the connection and interplay between past and present, what is lost and what remains. She exhibits regularly in the UK and abroad and her work is found in several private and public collections internationally.
‘IN/BETWEEN’ is her first solo exhibition in Derby and features a series of etchings, monotypes and drypoints made between 2019-2023.
